Melanoma and diet

It might seem odd that diet could play any role in melanoma prevention and treatment - after all melanomas most often result from excessive external exposure to the sun's rays.

However, melanoma, like other cancers, seems to have as much to do with the body's inability to fix damage to cells as it has to do with exposure to carcinogens. In the case of melanoma, this cell repair function may be one aspect the disease that can be influenced by diet.
